Der Tierschutzverein München (Munich Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is one of the largest non-profit animal welfare associations in Europe. The organisation has an animal shelter (Tierheim) and sanctuary and requires volunteers, members, donations, sponsorship and dog walkers. They are open every morning from 9 a.m. to 11.45 a.m. and Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.

"In our professionally run animal shelter each year around 8,500 animals are included in emergency, nursing and veterinary aid and transferred to new places on our 5.8 acre estate. Some not-to-place animals are looked after in the long term on our idyllic sanctuary Kirchasch in Erding."

What can you do to help? You might be able to offer:

2) To act as an escort for dogs to their new homes

3) Donations of dog food

4) Help with walking and playing with the dogs

5) Dog behaviourist skills, to specific dogs overcome particular issues

6) Veterinary skills, to neuter dogs for free and/or provide other veterinary assistance

7) Vaccine donations

8) Help with meeting our veterinary bills
