Dog Welfare Network

Vision

Our vision is of a world where every dog is loved and treated with respect. There will be no homeless, stray dogs wandering the streets and no healthy dogs that have to be put to sleep just because they are unwanted.

Mission

We aim to transform the quality of life for dogs worldwide by aiding communities to provide population management and support for community dogs, whilst assisting adoptions, enhancing local environments and enriching human-dog relationships in the process.

Values

Compassion, Community-focused and Creative

Compassion

We are compassionate in that we are seeking to alleviate canine suffering, whether that is by assisting adoptions or by raising funds towards the care of dogs in need.

Community-focused

The Dog Welfare Network is founded on the principle that existing foundations for dog rescue within local communities need to be built upon and supported, and that by working together these many small organisations will be stronger and achieve a bigger impact.

Creative

We know that the problem of unwanted dogs is so massive that we will have to be very creative and offer innovative approaches to finding solutions in order to make a difference.

Strategic Plan for Dog Welfare Network

1) To support existing dog rescue organisations in their work

Aim: To build the capacity of dog rescue organisations so that they have the resources necessary to continue and further develop their work

2) To develop large scale population management programmes of dogs within selected communities

Aim: to reduce the number of unwanted dogs by organising large scale neutering programmes

3) To fund education programmes, including through the arts, which change people's behaviour and attitudes towards dogs

Aim: To reduce the suffering of dogs due to neglect, ill-treatment, illness, ignorance and injury.

4) To develop our organisation

Aim: All staff and partners embody our core values of professional competence, excellent communication, teamwork, effective use of resources, and personal effectiveness, so acting as valuable ambassadors for The Dog Welfare Network.
